Freaking Friday

September 22nd, 2006

Ooo boy…there’s a lot of news out there today, so let’s see if I can encapsulate it into little post bites so you guys can absorb it all quickly. ;)

Well now we know why Bush has been pushing his terror bill again:

CIA officials say President Bush had to empty the agency’s secret prison network this month “because interrogators had refused to continue their work until the legal situation was clarified because they were concerned they could be prosecuted for using illegal techniques.”Unfortunately, any GOP attempts to block Bush over his pro-torture bill were all just bluff and bluster to make themselves sound good before the elections…because once again, they’ve rolled over like good little dogs. However the agreement may sound, here’s the main part that matters most:

The agreement explicitly gives the president “the authority for the United States to interpret the meaning and application of the Geneva Conventions.”

Which basically means that whatever law may appear on the books doesn’t mean squat, because once again the President/Emporer is going to interpet the law how he sees fit, which means that torture is on the bill for the next two years at the very least, and more cases like the one where Hang em High Alberto Gonzales denies any knowledge of his department grabbing a man off an airplane and sending him to Syria where he was kept in a tiny cell and beaten with a metal cable repeatedly based on false information provided to the US will continue to happen.

Now here is some irony for you: The U.S. is refusing to release a Cuban/Venezulean terrorist that tried to kill Castro back to Cuba because they are afraid he’s going to be tortured by the Cuban government. Take a few minutes to clean up after your spit take, and we will continue. Go ahead…I’ll wait.

Speaking of torture…not only are we contributing to the Civil War in Iraq, but U.N. experts now say that Iraq torture is worse than under the rule of Saddam Hussein. Oh yeah…we definitely made a difference in Iraq….unfortunately we made things incredibly worse.

Black republicans show that even they will sell their souls for politics….this time by saying MLK Jr. was a Republican and the Democrats started the KKK. Hope you weren’t trying to drink your coffee again…

Heh…the GOP and their pundits can no longer claim that Ann Coulter does not speak for them. She is the bastard bitch of your hate, GOP….she’s all yours, and you can have her, because you make a very deserving couple.

Now who would’ve though…when I said that Bush’s global warming program was half-assed and pathetic, I was right. Turning to the BBC for accurate news about the US, we find that one of the biggest companies behind the global warming deniers is none other than Big Tobbaco.

What the….Starbucks is raising their prices even more? Isn’t $4.00 for a cup of coffee enough, you blood sucking bastards?

Ever see Gattica? This article has definitely got me thinking about that movie again…

LOL…oh man…Senator Bill Frist had his ass handed to him on a silver platter by the Democratic tag-team of Durbin and Reid!

Finally…a voice of hope and reason from Ohio that doesn’t come from a known criminal!

“Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that the planned national unity government will recognize Israel and renounce violence.” Man…we can only hope…is peace in the Middle East even possible anymore?

Trying to keep track of what’s going on in your own state during the elections?

Starting this Friday, the NOW website at www.pbs.org/now will feature a state-by-state tool that will allow users to see the ballot initiatives they’ll be facing in November and check how their states score on a campaign finance report card.

Finally…

Your moment of Zen
