You’re not funny, Cincinnati!

Shouting “Who Dey” and repeating the word “Labia” over and over again is not funny! Telling us how much your life sucks because you’re a crack smoking redneck loser is not funny! Jeesy Creezy…at least the headliner at the end was funny…but they had to fly him in from Los Angeles!
Oh well…if I get free tickets again I am just going to have to make sure I see one of the headliners instead…
There’s quite a bit of news today, and I am afraid a lot of it isn’t good. So…grab your cup of really good hot tea, take a deep breath, and read on, MacDuff!

TORTURE WINS IN THE WHITE HOUSE
That’s right….Bush passed his bill advocating changing the wording of the Geneva Convention through the House so as to make their illegal torture practices in secret prisons and shipping of people to other countries for torture legal. Hey troops…..feel safer yet knowing that other countries now have the opportunity to follow suit? Honestly…I don’t think anyone can feel safe anymore, and it doesn’t even have to have anything to do with terrorists.
****I’m sorry that I didn’t clarify earlier…it just passed the House and still has to go up against the Senate, but it doesn’t look good. ***
There is so much political corruption of Capitol Hill that the FBI has had to triple the number of squads investigating lobbyists, lawmakers and influence peddlers. Yeah…but who’s investigating the Congressmen guilting of colaborating with these assholes? Here’s a report that’s rather informative and I am sure the FBI are reading: Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and 5 to watch). Before anyone says anything, yes, there are a few Democrats on there too.
Auditors say that the Interior Department is supressing their efforts to recover millions from oil companies they said were cheating the government. No what would Congressmen have to gain by helping the oil companies cheat our country out of the money owed to them? Hmmn? (pssst…..see the second link)
The White House just can’t get over the fact that they are wrong about the lack of connection between Saddam, Iraq, and Al Qaeda. They are so much in denial that now they’ve released their own report to try and countract the actual truth of the matter that was discovered by the Senate Intelligence Committee.
AÂ conservative Congressman is leading the charge to screw our troops by blocking the crackdown on predatory lenders targeting U.S. troops:
Rep. Geoff Davis (R-KY), is trying to gut the amendment. Davis has proposed his own language — praised by the payday lending industry — that sets no real limits on predatory lenders. One of Davis’s aides admitted last week that he consulted on the legislation with “CNG Financial of Mason, Ohio, one of his top campaign donors and owner of national payday lender Check ‘n Go.â€
Today may be the last day to stop Davis in his tracks. Call his office now and tell him to stop enabling predatory lenders who are hurting the U.S. military.

“European scientists voiced shock on Wednesday as they showed pictures which showed Arctic ice cover had disappeared so much last month that a ship could sail unhindered from Europe’s most northerly outpost to the North Pole itself.”
Meanwhile…Bush announces his own half-assed and near worthless plan of inaction towards climate change.
Feel safer yet?
At least I have a little glimmer of good news:
In the latest round of legal Ping-Pong over the future of 49 million roadless acres of national forests, a federal judge in California on Wednesday reinstated Clinton-era protections against logging and mining on the land and invalidated the Bush administration’s substitute policy.
The Daily Show responds to the Vampire Demon, Robert Novak.
And finally…
